Word Bath

Word Bath is a digital version of Speed Scrabble. Players attempt to make a set of words out of the 5 letters they have. If a player runs out of tiles, each player must grab a new tile. Players can rearrange their letters as much as they need but must always have a complete set of words to get a new tile. The player who runs out of tiles first wins.

Given the speedy nature of the game, the game was made to feel simple but also responsive and snappy. I kept things quite flat but upon picking up a tile, it lifts off the screen, meeting the user’s finger. It can be flicked around like a real tile.

It was also important to visualize the actual physical nature of the gameplay. The pile of blank squares at the top represents the user's remaining letters left to use. This makes it look and feel almost like a real game.

A small amount of personalization was also involved in the design. If a user wanted to, they could change the default background color to their favorite pink or purple.
